In 2004, Songwriter Dylan Connor noticed the common thread running through three of his favorite records by Nada Surf, Pavement, and Lemonheads was producer Bryce Goggin. Connor tracked Mr. Goggin down at Trout Recording in Brooklyn and handed him dozens of demos. Goggin found some gems in the dozens of 4 track tunes, and it wasn’t long before Connor and Goggin had recorded Plug In – Connor’s debut solo effort (think Ben Folds hanging out with Billy Bragg listening to Guided by Voices). A big fat positive response, including an nod for Best Lyrics in American Songwriter Magazine, sent Connor on a whirlwind tour across the U.S and as far away as the Middle East.
In the years that followed, Connor released three more solo albums with Bryce Goggin producing, including the EP Blood like Fire (Songs for Syria) – a charity album about the war in Syria. 100% of the proceeds from this EP are allocated to educating Syrian refugee children via the Karam Foundation. Singles from the Songs for Syria EP received heavy rotation on TV and radio stations thoughought the entire Middle East. During 2013, Connor would get a call from a friend in Iraq or a relative in Saudi Arabia that his video was on TV. Connor has continued to advocate for awareness of the Syrian crisis with several video singles. Currently, his song Man of Peace is featured in the documentary Little Gandhi, about one of the Syrian Revolution’s greatest peace activists Ghiath Matar. Connor’s most recent video single for Syria, a Blind Eye, received over 100,000 views in the first week of its release.
In June of 2015, an stranger pulled up to Dylan’s house in Connecticut and left a large package on the front porch. When he got home later that day, Connor opened the heavy box to find a custom Martin acoustic guitar, and a note that said ‘happy strumming.” This mysterious gift provided the fuel that Dylan needed to put the finishing touches on a trove of unfinished songs. Connor had been composing fragments of material in places as mundane as his living room, and as exotic as Turkey, Cyprus, and Germany. In February 2016 , Connor headed into the studio with Bryce Goggin at the helm of course. They resurfaced in August of that year with a 10 song LP titled Spirit Glue. The title emanates from the friends and family here and here after who made the songs and recordings possible: the one hundred and twenty fans who funded the album through PledgeMusic; the former high school student who painted the cover portrait; the soul brother who directed and edited an accompanying music video for every song on the record; and the musicians who donated their talents to the tracks.
Spirit Glue is now
available on all digital platforms including iTunes, Amazon, GooglePlay, Spotify, etc.
AND is available on vinyl through cdbaby.com and dylanconnor.com
The music of Jim Wolf is characterized by a powerful confidence. There’s a certainty in his delivery, and a sincerity in the lyrics delivered. Wolf’s presence and conviction are what’s what’s kept him going non stop since (2006), helped him complete five studio albums since then and taken him around the United States and Asia to concert halls, coffee shops, and colleges.
After watching his older brother make four track recordings with an undiscovered John Mayer in the family’s basement, Jim found himself inspired to embark upon his own musical career. Jim Wolf’s music has since been featured on MTV, VH1, E!, Oxygen, and The Young & The Restless. He has performed his vocal driven pop-rock alongside artists like Ryan Cabrera, The Alternate Routes, Chris Thile of The Punch Brothers and Nickel Creek, Nick Fradiani, and John Mayer, and received nominations for the American Songwriter Award and International Acoustic Music Award.
Jim Wolf has enjoyed success not only at home in the United States, but also overseas in South Korea where his music frequently charts above heavy hitters like Maroon Five, Beyonce, and Adele on MNET. Jim’s single, Make You My Lady retained a spot in MNET’s top fifty for three weeks and top twenty on K-Pop at it’s peak, and has become a go-to wedding song in Korea after being used by celebrity couple Chae Rim and Gao Zi Qi.
Looking back down the road it seems Jim Wolf’s vision and mettle were well founded. Looking forward it’s clear that with successes both hard won and unforeseen Jim’s star continues to rise.
