I-91 north in Hartford reopens after crash

HARTFORD — A stretch of Interstate 91 was closed for nearly an hour Thursday morning after a crash involving an overturned vehicle.

The state Department of Transportation reported I-91 north was closed between exits 28 and 29 because of the overturned vehicle. The crash was reported shortly before 7 a.m.

The closure backed up traffic for miles leading up to the crash, causing slowdowns on the southbound side of the highway as well.

A damaged vehicle could be seen on the state DOT camera in the area of the crash attached to the back of a tow truck around 7:40 a.m. to be removed from the highway.

It was not immediately known if anyone was injured.

By 7:50 a.m., first responders had cleared from the scene and traffic was moving through the area again. There were some residual delays.

This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
