Meriden police: Non-life-threatening injuries in Ceppa Field shooting

MERIDEN — One person suffered non-life-threatening injury in a shooting late Sunday afternoon, police said.

Minutes before 6 p.m., officers responded to reports of shots fired in the area of Ceppa Field, 114 Gale Ave. Police said investigators collected evidence near the baseball field.

Investigating officers were soon notified that a male victim turned up at MidState Medical Center to be treated for a bullet wound to the arm. The investigation is ongoing any anyone with information is asked to call law enforcement.

Sunday’s shooting comes days after another shooting on South Avenue on Oct. 9 that left a male victim with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the hip. Last week’s shooting remains under investigation.

On Oct. 4, Casey Schoonover was fatally shot at 190 Grove St. Police have released a photo of the alleged shooter and have asked for the public’s help to identify him.

One day prior, Michael Joseph Brown was killed in a shooting at 54 South Broad St.

Both homicide investigations remain active.

Anyone with information on any of these incidents is asked to call the Major Crimes Unit tips line at 203-630-6253. Callers can remain anonymous.
