MILFORD — Crews continued to comb through the wreckage of a building where remains were found Tuesday, officials said Wednesday.
Police Officer Mike DeVito said members of the fire department and fire marshal’s office are “combing the building to check for the possibility of any other remains.” He said work is slow since the building is “very unstable.”
First responders were dispatched to 51 Roses Mill Road, a boarded-up commercial building, around 10 p.m. Monday night. A working fire was confirmed minutes later and multiple fire units converged on the location.
A video posted to the fire department’s Facebook page showed flames and smoke engulfing the structure as units worked to extinguish the blaze.
The first floor of the building was missing, and the flames spread to the basement, prompting firefighters to use an exterior attack.
The remains of a male victim were found in the wreckage during an inspection of the building on Tuesday, according to Marilisa Anania, a Milford police spokeswoman.
DeVito said Wednesday there was no identification or cause of death available yet.
The investigation is ongoing.
