A New York man will spend six years in federal prison for his role in heroin trafficking in Connecticut, according to authorities.

U.S. District Judge Janet Hall sentenced 52-year-old Brian “Zo” Hanna, of Brooklyn, N.Y., in New Haven federal court to serve 72 months in prison, followed by four years of supervised release.

Officials said the charge against Hanna stemmed from a joint investigation by the DEA New Haven Task Force and Waterbury and Naugatuck police. The investigation focused on heroin and cocaine trafficking, which authorities said was being led by Waterbury resident Keith Jordan.

Investigators discovered Jordan was getting large quantities of heroin from various suppliers, including Hanna, and selling the drug to other distributors and street-level customers, according to authorities. He was also accused of buying and selling cocaine.

On March 13, 2019, a grand jury in Hartford returned an indictment, charging Hanna, Jordan and 27 others with various offenses linked to heroin, fentanyl, cocaine and crack cocaine distribution.

Eight days after the indictment was returned, and in connection with the arrest of several of the co-defendants, investigators seized about 3,000 bags of heroin, 400 grams of cocaine, 350 grams of fentanyl/heroin, 400 grams of heroin, 10 grams of crack, 20 pounds of marijuana, fentanyl patches, a one-kilogram press, four guns, about $10,000 in cash and four vehicles.

Hanna was arrested in Texas on April 19, 2019.

He pleaded guilty on Nov. 7, 2019, to conspiracy to distribute, and to possession with intent to distribute, 100 grams or more of heroin.

Hanna, who is released on a $200,000 bond, is required to report to prison on Dec. 16.

Jordan pleaded guilty to related charges and awaits sentencing.
