BRIDGEPORT — Over the span of about 40 minutes Monday night, there were three robberies in the city apparently committed by the same group of people, according to officials.
Scott Appleby, the city’s director of emergency communications and emergency management, said the same group seemed to have also struck in Stratford.
“There is really no good descriptions of the parties but they were described as black males wearing all black with their face covered and carrying firearms,” Appleby said.
In Bridgeport, he said, the targets of the robberies were retail liquor stores and a gas station.
Appleby said the city’s Emergency Operations Center will work with the police department’s Robbery Division to get safety and prevention tips for small retail businesses. Some suggestions for those businesses will be making sure there is substantial lighting inside and outside, signage and minimal window coverage or debris.
“This will assist a patrol officer with their role as well as other members of the community with a better viewing area into the business to help deter or to report any criminal activity,” Appleby said.
Anyone with more information is asked to call the city’s police tips line at 203-576-TIPS.
