Police: Illegal guns, hundreds of rounds of ammo found in Stratford drug raid

STRATFORD — A couple was arrested and illegal weapons, hundreds of rounds of ammo and drugs were seized Tuesday in a raid of a Columbus Avenue home, police said.

Kevin Lopez, 26, and Stephanie Gonzalez, 33, were each charged with numerous firearm violations, possession with intent to sell, operating a drug factory and risk of injury to a minor.

Inside their Columbus Avenue residence, police said they found four illegal firearms, one of them had an obliterated serial number; hundreds of rounds of live ammunition, a 20-round magazine, three holsters, a police-style bullet proof vest, 2.5 pounds marijuana, packaging and scales and 5.6 ounces of uncut cocaine packaged for street-level sales. Police said they also found $4,500 in cash.

“The evidence that was located within the residence was accessible to anyone who was present, including their minor child,” police said.

The joint operation was carried out by Bridgeport Task Force officers assigned to the State Police Gang Unit/FBI Safe Streets, ATF and the Stratford police Narcotics Unit.

The task force said Gonzalez had been released on $50,000 bond stemming from a March arrest for possession of firearms or ammunition.

Bonds were set for the latest charges at $500,000 pending their arraignments in Bridgeport Superior Court.
