Police: Man wounded in attempted Bridgeport street robbery

BRIDGEPORT — A man was shot three times in the legs after an attempted robbery early Saturday morning, police said.

“Preliminary reports indicate a person was walking in the area of Harriet Street and East Washington Avenue just after midnight, when two males attempted to rob him,” said Scott Appleby, emergency management and emergency communications director.

“There was a subsequent struggle and the victim received three non-life-threatening gunshot wounds to the leg area.”

Bridgeport Police then canvassed the area for the crime scene investigation.

Anyone with knowledge of this incident is asked to notify the Bridgeport Police at 203-576-TIPS.
