Stratford police: Men stole 8 cars from dealership

STRATFORD — Two men have been charged after they broke into a local car dealership and stole eight vehicles off the lot, police said Thursday.

Stratford Police Capt. Frank Eannotti said a burglary was reported at a local car dealership on Barnum Avenue Wednesday morning.

“After making entry to the building, the suspects acquired car keys and stole eight cars from the lot,” Eannotti said.

He said detectives tracked down the suspects later that day and took them into custody with the help of Bridgeport police. They were in possession of “all the stolen keys” at the time of their arrests, Eannotti said.

Aaron Brown, 19, of Brooklyn, N.Y., and 21-year-old Bridgeport resident Victor Bourne were each processed at Stratford police headquarters on charges of third-degree burglary and first-degree larceny.

The eight stolen vehicles were recovered in Bridgeport, Stratford and Hamden, police said.

Two men were released from custody on a promise to appear by the state bail commissioner, Eannotti said. They were each assigned an Oct. 30 court date.
