Video shows driver crash through doors of 7-Eleven in South Windsor

SOUTH WINDSOR — No one was injured when a driver crashed through the front doors of a local store this week, according to police.

It happened shortly before 3 p.m. Wednesday at the 7-Eleven at 700 Ellington Road.

Surveillance footage from the store captured the incident, showing a driver apparently slowly veering to the right in the parking lot before driving directly through the front doors of the establishment.

Both doors were ripped off the hinges. There were no injuries reported during the incident, according to Sgt. Mark Cleverdon.

He said since the accident was on private property, police did not take any enforcement action.

The driver’s license was seized and sent to the state Department of Motor Vehicles, Cleverdon said, because the investigating officer believed the driver was “unfit to drive” for various reasons.
