Music-News.com is proud to host the exclusive world premiere of ‘Overthinker’ by Georgia & The Vintage Youth.[embedded content]
Like the dusty warble of an old-time radio, tuning to a long-forgotten station, Georgia Crandon’s voice is utterly timeless. Fronting her retro-pop band, The Vintage Youth, Georgia & The Vintage Youth roll big horns, pop melodies and tongue-in-cheek lyrics to produce ‘Overthinker’, a rollicking call to arms for the maligned and disillusioned youth of today.
The video was, of course, shot in lockdown, with Georgia demonstrating the type of activities an ‘overthinker’ might do in order to distract from the empty hours of isolation. Cooking, cleaning and exercise are all on the list, completed with the many varied vintage looks from Georgia’s wardrobe in a glorious pastiche of days gone by.
Wrapping things together is a performance section in what looks like Georgia’s own corridor, dancing and playing to the camera as the song builds into its cacophonous finale.
It’s easy to see why this band is backed by BBC Introducing and none other than Pixie Lott, queen of retro pop herself. Confidence, quirk and innovation abounds, all tied together with a cheeky wink and a smile from the woman at the front of it all – Georgia, with a voice big enough (and enough vintage jackets) to pull it all off to perfection.
