Connecticut Sun guard Bria Holmes sprained her right knee during Wednesday’s loss to Phoenix and will miss the rest of the WNBA season, the team announced Saturday.
The New Haven native underwent an MRI, which revealed the injury. She missed Friday’s regular-season finale against Atlanta.
Holmes played 18 games (four starts) in all for Connecticut in 2020, averaging 4.9 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.1 assists. She also dealt with a sore Achilles that had sidelined her for three games earlier in the season.
The Sun will tip off the playoffs Tuesday against Chicago (time to be determined) after finishing the truncated slate with a record of 10-12.
Holmes and her family plan to depart the bubble in Bradenton, Fla., and return to Connecticut, the team said.
