Yale pausing workouts after positive COVID-19 tests

Yale University’s athletic teams have reverted back to Phase 0 in the resumption of athletics after positive COVID-19 tests from the hockey program, Hearst Connecticut Media has confirmed.

The Bulldogs had progressed to Phase II before the positive tests, which were first reported by the Yale Daily News.

There will be no workouts for at least a week.

The next step will be to go back to Phase I, which limits activity to one hour per day of conditioning involving no more than 10 student-athletes together at once.

Yale joins Fairfield and New Haven as local college programs currently pausing workouts.

Coast Guard is the only Connecticut college with sporting events currently scheduled during the fall semester. Coast Guard announced on Tuesday the addition of a women’s cross country meet against Merchant Marine Academy on Saturday, a women’s soccer exhibition game against Army on Oct. 23, as well as rowing, sailing, pistol, rifle and men’s tennis events to go with previously announced women’s volleyball, men’s soccer and football contests against Merchant Marine Academy.

There are no college sporting events scheduled for Connecticut programs in the fall semester except for volleyball, men’s soccer and football games between Coast Guard and Merchant Marine Academy.
